Where do you notice AI most in football?

Colombia almost scored against Portugal.
Davinson Sanchez headed the ball in.
The flag went up.
VAR checked it.
VAR graphic showed he was offside by the length of a big toe.
That is the kind of moment where fans get angry.
One boot tip.
The match is lost.🙂
That moment is the easiest way to understand the bigger change.
AI is entering football as a full system around the match.
I am Alex, welcome to ShortCu8 by Innov8.
Lets Dive Deep 🐰
⭐Today's Shortcut

Think of World Cup AI in three layers:
referee layer = what happened?
team layer = why did it happen?
fan layer = how do we understand it?The first layer helps decide tiny moments.
The second layer helps teams prepare.
The third layer changes what we see on TV.
Layer 1: AI helps draw the line

The offside rule sounds simple until you freeze the match.
Where was the attacker?
Where was the defender?
When exactly was the ball played?
Which body part counts?
At the 2026 World Cup, semi-automated offside technology uses cameras to track player movement. The Guardian reported that the system uses a dozen cameras at 50 stills per second.
FIFA is also using player-specific 3D avatars for VAR offside decisions. Each player is digitally scanned so the system can model body dimensions more accurately.
That is why an offside call can come down to a toe.
The machine helps find the line.
The human referee still owns the decision.
This matters because fans usually argue about the final call, but the real change is the measurement process before the call.
Layer 2: AI becomes the assistant coach

The World Cup is now more than eleven players on the pitch.
It is also about the analysts behind them.
WIRED reported that FIFA will track around 150 million data points per match, and that sensors inside the ball log 500 movements per second.
That data feeds the coaching side of the tournament.
FIFA and Lenovo are giving teams access to Football AI Pro, an AI agent for match analysis.
Coaches can ask questions about opponents, patterns, player movement, and match situations.
Simple example:
Where does this team leave space after losing the ball?
Which full-back gets isolated?
Which player stops pressing after 70 minutes?
How do they defend corners?Earlier, deep analysis usually belonged to teams with bigger staff and budget.
Now every team gets at least a baseline AI analyst.
That will not make every team equal.
It does make the gap more visible.
Layer 3: AI changes what fans see

The TV version of football is also changing.
Earlier, fans saw replays, slow motion, and a few stats.
Now the broadcast can show 3D offside visuals, player avatars, passing maps, pressure maps, sprint data, and referee-view footage.
The fan is watching more than the ball.
The fan is watching the explanation layer.
That can be useful.
A toe-length offside is painful, but a clear 3D visual at least shows why the decision happened.
The danger is that football starts feeling too clinical.
A goal used to be a shout.
Now it can become a data check.
Now go and watch today’s knockout match ⚽⚽
