Its advantage is control: region-based changes, layer separation and structured product or character variations for packaging, localisation and repeated campaign assets.

Different providers expose different controls, and exact small text can still drift.

Verdict: Best controlled-editing challenger. It could reach S if repeated identity tests beat GPT Image 2.

Midjourney remains the aesthetic winner.

Use it for moodboards, campaign art and style discovery. V8.2 focuses on bolder aesthetics, stronger personalisation and fewer weak generations.

Identity consistency, dense text and reversible local editing are still weaker parts of the workflow.

Verdict: Best-looking creative option, but not the best complete generation-and-editing system.

Its role here is fast iteration. I would still run the final identity-sensitive asset through GPT Image 2 or Seedream.

Verdict: Best model for fast iteration, not the final identity-critical asset rn.

Ideogram is the specialist for text, posters and structured layouts.

It supports multilingual typography, bounding-box placement and structured prompting. Choose it when the words matter as much as the picture.

Its identity-preservation evidence is weaker than its typography evidence, and the structured workflow can feel cumbersome.

Verdict: Best for posters, covers and text-heavy design.

Grok is cheap, accessible and strong enough to appear near the top of preference leaderboards.

It fell to B because the identity-replacement test failed.

Verdict: Good for inexpensive experiments. Do not trust the leaderboard when recognisability is the job.

Krea 2 is where much of the open-image excitement has moved.

It is strong for aesthetic exploration, moodboards and open workflows. Its RAW and Turbo weights also support LoRA training and customisation.

The strongest identity and editing workflows still depend on more technical local setups.

Verdict: Excellent open aesthetic ecosystem, but less convenient for a normal web-app user.
