WTF is Gemini Omni? :Gemini Omni is Google's new multimodal model family.

The first version, Gemini Omni Flash, can create and edit videos using text, images, audio, and existing video.

Google I/O had too many AI updates.

Some good. Some confusing. Some got the classic internet treatment:

โ

Bro this is trash.

Gemini Omni is one of them.

People started comparing it with Seedance 2.0, ByteDance's very strong AI video model.

And honestly, if the question is:

โ

Which model makes the better cinematic video from scratch?

Gemini Omni Flash may not be the winner right now.

Seedance is very strong at that game.

But that might be the wrong comparison.

The more interesting question is:

โ

Can Gemini Omni edit videos we already have?

That is where it gets useful.

โญToday's Shortcut

AI video has two different jobs.

Job 1: Generate

You start with nothing. You ask for a new video.

Example:

Make a cinematic shot of a man walking through Tokyo at night.

This is where models like Seedance 2.0, Veo, Kling, and others compete hard.

Job 2: Edit

You already have a video.

You ask AI to change parts of it.

Example:

Take this clip.
Keep the person and camera movement the same.
Remove the watermark.
Add clean captions.
Change the background to a rainy street.

That second job is the Gemini Omni angle.

Not making a whole video from zero.

Editing the video you already have.

Why This Matters

Most creators do not need a full AI movie every day.

They need boring edits.

The kind that eats time:

  • remove a logo

  • change a background

  • clean a scene

  • swap an object

  • fix one part without ruining the rest

That is where prompt-based editing becomes interesting.

Because you are not asking AI to invent everything.

You are saying:

โ

This is the video. Keep most of it. Change this part.

That is a much more useful workflow for normal people.

The Wrong Way to Judge Gemini Omni

Wrong comparison:

Gemini Omni vs Seedance 2.0
Which one generates better cinematic video?

That is not useless.

But it misses the point.

Seedance is built like a powerful video generation model.

Gemini Omni's more interesting story is editing and multimodal control.

This is closer to:

โ

Nano Banana for video.

When Nano Banana first came out, people did not fully understand how big image editing would become.

The same thing may happen here.

Generation gets the hype.

Editing gets the daily use.

How to Use It

Use this workflow in Google Flow :

  1. Upload the clip.

  2. Say what should stay the same.

  3. Say what should change.

  4. Ask for one edit at a time.

  5. Review the result.

  6. Repeat only if needed.

  7. Finish in CapCut, Premiere, or DaVinci if you need polish.

Good Prompt Examples

Use these as patterns.

1. Change one object

Keep the video exactly the same.
Only change the coffee cup on the table into a glass water bottle.
Keep the lighting, camera angle, and hand movement unchanged.

This is the cleanest Omni-style edit.

One object changes.

Everything else stays.

2. Change the camera

Keep the scene and subject the same.
Change the camera angle to an over-the-shoulder view.
Add a slow push-in during the last 2 seconds.

This is close to the official guide's camera examples.

Use words like:

  • close-up

  • wide shot

  • locked off

  • handheld

  • push in

  • punch in

  • dolly zoom

  • natural smartphone zoom

3. Change the action

Keep the building, night scene, and camera position the same.
Make the apartment lights turn on one by one in sync with the music.

This is where Omni becomes more interesting than a normal generator.

You can combine video and audio instructions.

4. Apply a new style

Keep the original motion and character actions.
Reimagine the whole clip in a claymation style.
Keep the timing and camera movement the same.

Google's guide shows this kind of style transfer:

  • crayon

  • pencil sketch

  • glass 3D

  • risograph

  • anime

  • watercolor

  • claymation

5. Add text safely

Add one word at a time on screen:
"Learn", "faster", "with", "AI".

Each word should appear with clean timing and a different simple animation.
Keep the background video unchanged.

Google says Omni can render and animate text more accurately.

Still, for final subtitles, use a dedicated caption tool if accuracy matters.

What It Can Be Good For

Gemini Omni-style editing could be useful for:

  • YouTube Shorts

  • Reels

  • product videos

  • course clips

  • faceless videos

  • explainer clips

  • ads

  • thumbnails turned into motion

  • old clips refreshed for new platforms

This is not only for filmmakers.

It is for anyone who has clips and no patience for timeline editing.

That is a lot of people.

What Not to Expect

Do not expect magic.

This is still early.

Gemini Omni Flash may not beat the best video generation models for cinematic output.

It may fail on:

  • face consistency

  • hands

  • fast motion

  • exact text

  • complex scenes

  • long clips

  • brand-perfect edits

So do not delete CapCut or Premiere.

Use AI to remove the boring first layer.

Then use normal tools for the final polish.

That is the sane workflow.

Now go create something great.

Q1 2026: $20.8B in BDC Redemption Requests. 0.44% Lifetime Net Loss Rate on Percent.

In Q1 2026, the non-traded BDC market hit $20.8B in redemption requests โ€” most investors received roughly half of what they asked for. Moody's revised the U.S. BDC sector outlook to Negative. Investors who thought they owned liquid private credit found out their fund manager decided whether they could get out.

On Percent's marketplace that same quarter: new issuances, scheduled payments, and a 0.44% lifetime net loss rate on asset-based deals that's held since inception.โ€

The difference is structural. BDCs often own concentrated corporate loans with quarterly redemption windows that close at the manager's discretion. Percent finances specialty lenders against pools of performing receivables โ€” diversified, overcollateralized, short duration.

Track record through 3/31/26:โ€

  • 14.6% net ABS returns LTM after losses

  • 0.44% lifetime net loss rate since inception (asset-based deals)

  • $1.62B+ in ABS originations

  • 870+ offerings completed

  • Deal terms 6โ€“24 months ยท Starting at $500
